School Bus Safety Program (Bus Evac) Information and Forms

Brief Explanation:

The California Education Code requires that at least once each year school districts conduct appropriate instruction in safe bus-riding practices, including pupil participation in an emergency bus evacuation drill. This instruction is provided for all children in elementary schools or comparable programs and includes students jumping out of an emergency exit onto a mat from a parked bus. Instruction for secondary students is provided only for students receiving transportation and is conducted at the school loading zone in the form of a brief 5 to 10 minute verbal presentation. Both types of presentations are scheduled on a day agreed upon by both the school and the Transportation Department.

A more detailed explanation of the program may be downloaded below along with the drill schedule. The other links are for a jump waiver form for students who cannot jump and a post-presentation survey. We appreciate your feedback.
